Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

Manchester Airport has three terminals. EasyJet and Jet2 both depart from terminal 1 while Tui and Small Planet Airlines flights depart from terminal 2. Free Wi-Fi is available in both terminals for up to 60 minutes. Both terminals also have an Escape Lounge, which you can pay to enter on the day or book in advance through Manchester Airport's website.

Terminal 1 is the biggest terminal and has a huge selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Shops include high street brands like The Body Shop, Fat Face, Next and Accessorize. There's also a Boots, WH Smith, Dixons Travel and Biza Duty Free for all of your last-minute essentials. Hungry travellers can enjoy cocktails and tapas at Bar MCR,  spicy Tex-Mex at Mi Casa Burritos, or a good British pasty at Greggs. There's also a Cloud Spa, for pre-holiday beauty treatments.

Terminal 2 has slightly fewer shops and restaurants, but still has plenty to keep you occupied before you board your flight to Thessaloniki. Shops include Lacoste, JD Sports and Pandora (in addition to airport essentials like Boots and WH Smith) while places to eat include Frankie & Benny's, The Spinning Jenny and Burger King. 

Terminal Information – Arriving

Thessaloniki Airport is just over nine miles from the city centre. There are a few options for getting into Thessaloniki.

· Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) runs buses between the airport and the city's train and bus station. These are buses 78, 78A and 78N. Tickets cost €2* and the journey lasts around 40 minutes.

· Metered taxis are available. Expect to pay €15-20*.

· Another option is car hire at Thessaloniki Airport. Sixt, Europcar, Kosmos, Avis, and Hertz all have desks inside the terminal building.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly to Thessaloniki from Manchester. Try to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before departure, giving yourself extra time if you have bags to check in or are travelling during the school summer holidays.

What to expect in Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is two hours ahead of Manchester and the local currency is the Euro (€). It's a typical sunshine destination, with much hotter weather than Manchester during the summer.
