Leeds Airport
Passengers travelling on flights from Leeds to Amsterdam should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their flight to Amsterdam is scheduled to depart. Jet2, KLM and British Airways offer online check in which is recommended where possible, or check in at the airport. If you need to check in any hold luggage, bag drop desks are available in the check in hall for each airline. Fast-track passenger security can be pre-booked online, to avoid queuing at security.
Leeds Bradford Airport has one terminal – check in is located on the ground floor, and flights depart from gates on the ground floor and first floor. The terminal has a range of shops including WH Smith, World Duty Free, Cargo and Superdrug, as well as a Travelex Currency. Dining options include Burger King, The Saltaire Bar & Eatery, Camden Food Company, Caffe Ritazza and the Sports bar.

Amsterdam Airport
Amsterdam Airport is just 9 miles to the south-west of Amsterdam city centre. There is one terminal with all Arrivals areas exiting into the Schiphol Plaza, the main shopping and dining area in the airport which offers an array of facilities and onward travel options.
To travel from Amsterdam Airport to Amsterdam you can choose from trains, buses, taxis or car hire.
Trains leave from platforms 1-3, directly below the terminal building, and run direct to Amsterdam Train Station every 10-15 minutes; the journey takes around 15-20 minutes. Buses run every 30 minutes from outside of the airport, taking around 30 minutes to reach the city centre.
The taxi rank at Amsterdam Airport is located outside the main arrivals entrance and a journey to the city centre costs from €33 to €40, taking around 20 minutes depending on your destination and the time you are travelling. Car hire rental companies based here include Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Budget, Sixt, Alamo, Thrift and National. You will find the desks near Arrivals Area 3 in the Schiphol Plaza.
What to expect in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a cultural smorgasbord, packed with history and art. Walking is one of the best ways to see all the city has to offer – or blend in with the locals by hiring a bike.
The weather here is mild in the summer and fairly cold during the winter months – expect top temperatures of between 22-25ºC during the summer, with over 200 hours of sunshine per month. Although summer is the most popular time to visit the city, August can be rather wet and rainy.
As in any major European city, dining out in Amsterdam can be expensive in tourist areas, but it is possible to eat cheaply and well at smaller restaurants offering lunchtime specials and set menus, or head for one of the city's many cafes.
