Terminal Information

Edinburgh Airport

Norwegian Air Shuttle and SAS offer check in at the airport on the day, or in advance online. It is recommended that you check in online where possible. If you are travelling with Easyjet or Ryanair you must use the online or mobile check in facilities in advance of your flight, there are no check in desks available at the airport. Any luggage for the hold needs to be taken to the bag drop desks in the check-in hall.

There is one terminal at Edinburgh Airport, and it is recommended that you arrive at least 2 hours before your flight to Copenhagen is scheduled to depart.  There’s plenty of places to shop or grab a bite to eat before your flight at WH Smith, Boots, Jo Malone, JD Sports, Flutes and Tails Champagne Bar, Eat and Starbucks. You can upgrade your visit to Edinburgh Airport by purchasing passes to the premium lounge, this offers complimentary food and drinks and unlimited free Wi-Fi.

Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport is 5 miles from the city centre and is the busiest Nordic airport. There are two terminals at the airport, with Ryanair and SAS flights arriving into Terminal 3, and Easyjet and Norwegian Air Shuttle flights arriving into Terminal 2.

Transport options from Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen are train, metro, bus, taxi and car hire, most of which depart from Terminal 3. The train station is located below Terminal 3 with the ticket office in Terminal 3, above the station. Trains depart for Copenhagen depart every 10 minutes, taking around 15 minutes, a typical single fare is around kr 20,00.

The metro station is located at the far end of Terminal 3 with services running every 4-6 minutes from 4.30am and 11.30pm, taking 15 minutes to reach Nørreport Station in the centre of Copenhagen.  

Taxis and car hire are available from Terminal 3, car hire companies here include Hertz, Avis and Sixt.

There are lots of buses departing from Terminal 2 and 3, travelling into Copenhagen with regular departures. A shuttle bus travels around the airport grounds, between the terminals, car parks and hotels, this is free with departures every 30 minutes.

What to expect in Copenhagen

Summers in Copenhagen are warm with temperatures which can reach highs of 30o and winters can be extreme with high levels of snowfall during short periods. Although in the EU, the currency of Denmark is the Danish Krone.  You will find most aspects of your trip to Copenhagen to be slightly more expensive than what you would normally expect to pay in Edinburgh, restaurants prices are around 30% higher with a typical three course meal costing 600 kr, around £60.
