Terminal Information – Departing
Birmingham Airport has one terminal. If you arrive at the airport early you'll find plenty to keep yourself distracted. You can enjoy duty free shopping and browse high street favourites like JD Sports, Accessorize and Boots. If you're feeling hungry you can enjoy a meal at Giraffe or Frankie & Benny's, or just grab a quick coffee at Costa or Caffe Nero. There are three bars if you feel like you need a pre-flight tipple: Blanc et Noir is great for a glass of bubbly, but for something more substantial there's a Wetherspoon and an All Bar One.
If shopping and eating aren't your things, you can enjoy a manicure at Cloud Nails or unleash your inner pilot at the flight simulator. There are two executive lounges available: Aspire Lounge and No.1 Traveller. Both are reasonably priced. If you pre-book it should cost about £21.99*. Inside you can enjoy complimentary snacks, drinks and Wi-Fi. The perfect way to kick off your holiday!
Terminal Information – Arriving
Monarch flights land at Terminal 3. The Terravision bus into the city centre stops outside the arrivals area, as do the SIT Bus Shuttle, T.A.M Srl, and Atral-Schiaffini buses. Cotral buses stop outside Terminal 2, which is just a short walk away from T3. There is a taxi rank outside every terminal. Car hire can be found in the multi-storey car park, Torre Uffici 2. This is accessed through pedestrian tunnels. If you're planning a self-drive trip, remember you can compare car hire at Rome-Fiumicino with Skyscanner.
Practical Information
You need a valid passport to visit Italy. It only needs to be valid for the duration of your stay. Try to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart. This will give you time to get through security and relax. It's best to give yourself extra time if you're checking in suitcases or flying during the school holidays.
