Terminal Information
Aberdeen Airport
Aberdeen Airport is a single terminal airport. You should arrive at the airport at least one hour before your flight to London is scheduled to depart to ensure you have enough time to check in and go through security. Flybe check in options at Aberdeen Airport include staffed and self-service check in desks at the airport, online and automatic mobile or email check in. Flybe bag drop desks close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your flight.
There is a small selection of facilities in the departures lounge which cover all of the essentials such as Boots, WH Smith, The Globe Bar and Restaurant, Dixons, a duty free store, Art at Aberdeen and free unlimited Wi-Fi.
London City Airport
London City Airport is a small but convenient airport located in Newham, 6 miles east of the City of London. Most of London’s main destinations such as The West End, Westminster and Canary Wharf are in easy reach after arriving into London City Airport.
Facilities in the Arrivals Hall at London City Airport include Pret a Manger, Panopolis, free Wi-Fi and access to a number of onward travel options. There is a taxi rank outside of the airport terminal however you may need to queue for a taxi during busy periods. A taxi into Central London will take around 30 minutes depending on traffic. Car hire is available; Europcar, Budget, Avis and Hertz all have offices based next to the airport.
There is a Docklands Light Railway station at the airport which connects to the London Underground system. Oyster cards are available from the DLR counter. Trains depart every 10 minutes and it takes between 20 and 30 minutes to reach Central London.
Practical Information
When flying between Aberdeen and London British citizens do not need to carry a passport, you will still be required to show an acceptable form of photographic ID such as a driving licence, expired passport (within the last 2 years) or a Citizen Card.
What to expect in London
