KLM Cityhopper offers direct flights from Norwich to Amsterdam.  This is the busiest route from Norwich Airport, so we recommend booking your flight as far in advance as possible.

Terminal Information – Departing

Norwich Airport has one terminal. There are two places to enjoy a bite to eat: Cafe Oasis and The Yard of Ale pub. Cafe Oasis serves Costa Coffee, perfect if you're on the 6am flight. Take advantage of tax free shopping in Eclipse Duty Free, which sells a range of luxury items including perfume, alcohol and designer sunglasses. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. If you haven't brought your laptop you can use the internet desks for tasks a little heavier than your smartphone can handle. The Multiyork Executive Lounge is perfect for a bit of added luxury. Enjoy broadband internet, complimentary refreshments, and the services of a personal shopper.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Schiphol Plaza is the arrivals area where passengers from every flight will eventually end up. All of the transport options can be found here. There are taxi ranks and bus stops outside, a train station downstairs, and car hire desks inside. If you decide to rent a car remember you can compare prices with Skyscanner.

The fastest way from the airport to downtown Amsterdam is by train. Single tickets to Centraal Station cost €3.90* (about £2.80). Buy them before you board: there are ticket machines throughout the station. The better option if you're staying near Museumplein or Leidseplein is the Airport Bus. Tickets cost €5* (about £3.60). Taxis are the most expensive option at €40-50 (£29-36). Cabs are metered, so the price will depend on which neighbourhood you're going to.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly from Norwich to Amsterdam. Aim to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to leave. Give yourself a bit of extra time if you're flying during the school holidays or if you want to check some luggage into the hold.

What to expect in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one hour ahead of Norwich. The currency is the Euro (€). Prices in Amsterdam are similar to in Norwich, although you can expect to pay more for alcohol and some fast food. Temperatures in both cities are similar throughout the year. Amsterdam is famous for its Red Light District, but there's far more to the city than its seedy side. Leafy boulevards, fashionable second hand shops, and excellent art museums are just a few of the city's other attractions. Remember drugs are illegal in Amsterdam: even marijuana. It may be tolerated inside coffee shops, but if you get caught wandering the streets with it you could find yourself in trouble with the police.
