The departure lounge in Terminal 1 has a small but good range of shops and restaurants. Fat Face, Monsoon, and Boux Avenue represent the high street. Biza Duty Free is a great place to browse luxury items, while WH Smith offers quick snacks and reading material for your flight. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the departure lounge. Big names like Giraffe, Starbucks and Upper Crust offer quick places for a bite while Bar MCR and the Grain Loft are perfect for a pre-flight tipple.
Terminal 3 has fewer shops and restaurants but still has everything you need for a relaxing pre-flight experience. Shops include Boots, Accessorize, Dixons Travel and Biza Duty Free. If you need something to eat or drink you can choose from Costa, Caffe Nero, Upper Crust and Trattoria Milano.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Newcastle Airport has just one terminal. It's located about six miles from the city centre, so getting into town doesn't take too long. The fastest way to reach the city is via The Metro. Tickets to Monument station cost £3.60* and the journey takes about 20 minutes. Buses and coaches also serve the airport. Journey times vary depending on traffic. There's a taxi rank outside the arrivals hall, and you can expect to pay about £15* for the drive into the city. Car hire is also available at Newcastle Airport. Europcar, Avis, Hertz, Budget and InterRent all have desks at the airport. Remember to compare car hire prices with Skyscanner first.
Practical Information
If you're flying to Newcastle via a UK or Irish airport you won't need to bring your passport. You will need some valid photographic ID for security purposes: see the airline's website for more information. If you're flying via Amsterdam you will need your passport. Even if you're not planning on leaving the airport, you'll still need to pass passport control if you're entering the Schengen area.
