Lufthansa fly from Manchester Airport Terminal 1. This is the airport's most modern terminal, boasting a wide range of shops and places to eat. You can enjoy one hour of free Wi-Fi, or take advantage of tax free shopping at Biza Duty Free. Treat yourself to some fashionable new clothes at Fat Face, Monsoon and Boux Avenue or pick up some light reading for the 'plane at WHSmith. If you fancy a quick coffee you can pop into Starbucks. Giraffe, Cafe Balzar and Bar MCR offer more substantial meals. If you fancy a drink before your flight you can pop into the Grain Loft. This trendy bar does a great line in craft beers and wine, and has private booths where you can listen to music from your own iPod.

If you want to add a touch of luxury to your trip, Manchester Airport has some easy upgrades. You can pre-book fast track security for £3.50* to skip the queues. The Aspire Lounge offers a comfortable and relaxing area away from the general hubbub. Access starts from £19.99* per person. Inside you can enjoy unlimited Wi-Fi and complimentary snacks and drinks. Terminal Information – Arriving

Flights from Manchester usually arrive at Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 1. There's an S-bahn train station in this terminal, and you can take lines S8 and S9 into the city centre. Tickets cost €4.55* (about £3.25). Bus line 61 also serves the airport, and there's a taxi rank outside each terminal. Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly to Germany from the UK. We recommend arriving at the airport about 90 minutes before you're due to fly. It's good practice to give yourself extra time if you're checking luggage into the hold or flying during the school holidays.

What to expect in Frankfurt

Germany is one hour ahead of the UK and the currency is the Euro (€). Frankfurt is cheaper than Manchester.
