Terminal Information

Manchester Airport

Passengers travelling on flights from Manchester to Florence should plan to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight departure time. Lufthansa, KLM and Air France offer check in at the airport, online or mobile check in. If you need to check in any hold luggage bag drop desks are available in the check in hall for each airline.

There are three terminals at Manchester Airport; Lufthansa flights depart from Terminal 1, KLM and Air France flights depart from Terminal 3. Terminal 1 offers an exciting range of shops such as Attitude Designer Fashions, Jo Malone, Boux Avenue, JD Sport and Clarins. You can take one standard sized shopping bag from the airport on your flight in addition to your hand luggage or you can use the shop and collect service to collect your items when you return to the airport.  Food options include The Grain Loft, Soho Coffee Co. Mi Casa Burritos, Bar Mcr and more.

Terminal 3 has a limited selection of shops with a duty free store, Accessorize, Rolling Luggage, Swatch, Boots and Dixons. Places to eat at Terminal 3 are Pork and Pickle, Trattoria Milano, The Lion and The Antelope, Costa and Upper Crust.

There is up to one hour of free Wi-Fi access available at the airport.

Premium Escape Lounges are available in both terminals, from £19.99 per person if booked in advance. Benefits of the lounges are complimentary food, alcoholic, soft and hot drinks and unlimited Wi-Fi access.

Florence Airport

Florence Airport is just 7km to the north of Florence. In the Arrivals Hall there is a currency exchange point, Conte of Florence fashion store, and Bacchanal Florence a bar and restaurant.

To travel from Florence Airport to Florence you can use the bus services, taxis or hire a car. The taxi rank at Florence Airport is in front of the terminal building, a fare to the main hotels in downtown Florence is around €20. A taxi will take around 15 minutes.

BusItalia operates buses to Florence which depart every 30 minutes from the airport, a journey takes around 30 minutes.

If you are hiring a car from Florence Airport you will need to take the free shuttle bus from the airport to the car hire offices. Car hire companies based here include Auto Europa, Avis, Budget and Europcar.

What to expect in Florence

Florence, Tuscany is a small city which is full of beauty, from works of art and splendid architecture to its location at the foot of the Appennine Mountains.

The weather is Florence is hot with a little rain during the summer months and mild with some rain and potentially snow during the winter, despite this rainfall Florence is significantly drier than Manchester. As many of the attractions such as the art galleries and museums are indoors any spells of wet weather won’t put a dampener on your plans. 

Florence is one of the more affordable Italian cities to visit. Eating out can be expensive in the more popular tourist areas but heading a little further away you can get great authentic Tuscan cuisine on a budget.
