Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is a single terminal airport located 9 miles south east of Liverpool city centre. It is advised that passengers travelling on flights to Edinburgh should arrive at the airport at least one hour before their flight is due to depart. Flybe offer airport check-in, and online check in with printable boarding passes which is recommended in order to avoid queues at the airport. If you have checked in online and travelling with hold luggage you can take this to the bag drop desks.
In the Liverpool Airport departures lounge you will find a great range of shops and places to eat to enjoy before your flight. These include WHSmith, World Duty Free, JD Sports, Boots, Burger King, Starbucks and Caffe Ritazza.
An Aspire premium lounge is available if you wish to upgrade. You can enjoy a range of complimentary drinks, snacks and unlimited Wi-FI from £18.99 per person.
You can access up to 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi at the airport, which is £3 per hour thereafter.
Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport is located 8 miles west and has one terminal. In the arrivals hall there are a small number of shops, Starbucks and onward travel information.
You can travel from Edinburgh Airport to Edinburgh by tram, taxi or bus. Trams depart approximately every 8-10 minutes and it will take around 35 minutes to reach the city centre, a single ticket is £5. The Airlink Express Bus departs from the airport every 10 minutes and travels to Waverly Bridge with a number of stops on the way in 25 minutes. A single ticket is £4.50.
If you have hired a car from the airport you will need to head to the car rental centre, a short walk away via a covered walkway from the terminal building. You will find Europcar, Budget, Avis, Enterprise and Dollar here.
Practical Information
You will not need to carry a passport on domestic flights within the UK. You will still need to provide a form of acceptable ID such as a driving licence or CitizenCard. If you are planning on using another form of ID it’s important to check whether this is accepted by the airline.
