Airlines that fly from London to Tangier

Royal Air Maroc fly direct to Tangier from London Heathrow Airport, and Air Arabia Maroc fly to Tangier from London Gatwick Airport.

Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

From Gatwick: Air Arabia Maroc flights depart from the south terminal. Places to eat in this terminal include Nando's, Giraffe, Wagamama, Pret, and two Wetherspoon pubs. Shops include British favourites like Harrods, Cath Kidston and Jo Malone as well as international fashion brands Victoria's Secret and Boss Hugo Boss. As always there's a Boots and a WH Smith for picking up last minute holiday essentials. There's a No.1 Lounge in the south terminal which passengers can pay to use, and some Regus Express Workpods for those who want to conduct a bit of business before boarding.

From Heathrow: Royal Air Maroc flights depart from terminal 4. Like all of Heathrow's terminals, T4 has a fantastic range of designer fashion shops and quality restaurants. Places to eat include Carluccios and Cafe Rouge, while places to shop include Bally and Cartier. Remember: Morocco isn't in the EU, so you can enjoy a duty free discount. There's a Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 4, if you need a bit of extra relaxation before your flight.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Tangier-Ibn Batouta Airport is about 7.5 miles from the city centre. It takes around 20 minutes to get into the city centre by taxi and you should expect to pay about £10* for the ride. Taxi prices are fixed by the government so you're unlikely to be caught unaware by an unscrupulous driver.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly from London to Tangier. British nationals can visit Morocco visa free for up to three months for tourism purposes. If you're visiting for any other reason you will need to apply for a visa. Try to arrive at your London airport at least two hours before your flight to Tangier is scheduled to depart.

What to expect in Tangier

Tangier is one hour behind London and the local currency is the Moroccan dirham. It's warmer than London all year round. During summer you can expect an average temperature of 24°C, compared with 19°C in London. In winter the average temperature is 13°C compared with 7°C in London. Prices in Tangier are very low, especially compared to London. You can enjoy a three course meal for two people for less than £13* on average, while a pint of domestic draught beer costs a little over £1.90*. Taxis are ridiculously cheap: expect to pay about £2.40* for a 5km taxi journey.
