Saudia flights depart from terminal 4. You can make the most of your duty free allowance in designer shops such as Burberry, Gucci and Hugo Boss or simply relax over a meal at Cafe Rouge, Carluccio's, or Bridge Bar. Practical Information
You need a Saudi Arabian visa to visit Riyadh. Your passport should be valid for at least six months after you enter the country. If you have an Israeli stamp on your passport or were born in Israel you might be refused entry. Female travellers arriving in Saudi Arabia need to be met by a male sponsor on arrival. We recommend arriving at Heathrow at least 2.5 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
What to expect in Riyadh
Riyadh is two hours ahead of London. The currency is the Saudi riyal. Saudi Arabia is a strict Muslim country. All women need to wear loose, conservative clothing as well as a headscarf and full-length cloak. Men also need to dress conservatively: don't pack your shorts. Be especially careful if you visit during Ramadan: you can't eat or drink during daylight hours. We recommend reading the UK government's travel advice to familiarise yourself with the local laws.
Riyadh is a very hot city. Temperatures regularly soar above 43°C during July and August, and temperatures often reach the low twenties during December and January. Although Saudi Arabia is a very rich country, prices in Riyadh are fairly low. You can enjoy dinner for two for about £20* and a bottle of water is about 20p.
