Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

Garuda Indonesia flights depart from Heathrow Airport terminal 3. You can reach this terminal by train (the Heathrow Express stops here) as well as by underground (Piccadilly Line). The departure lounge has a good range of designer shops such as Cath Kidstson, Chanel, Gucci and Harrods.  Places to eat include Bridge Lounge & Dining, Costa and the Oyster Bar. There's a Servisair Lounge and a No.1 Traveller Lounge in terminal 3: both can be used by travellers on all airlines. You can pre-book your lounge access online or pay on the door.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Jakarta-Soekarno-Hatta Airport is about 12 miles from the city centre. Garuda Indonesia flights usually land at terminal 2. There's a free shuttle bus available between the airport terminals. Taxis are available: it's best to go to the counters inside the terminal. They'll take you straight to the head of the queue and you can avoid the touts that linger in the arrivals hall. Ask the driver to turn on the meter: if they quote you a fixed rate it's likely to be inflated. The DAMRI shuttle bus leaves from all terminals and is a slightly cheaper (more authentic) option for reaching downtown Jakarta. Shuttle buses are also available.

Practical Information

If you're visiting Indonesia for 30 days or less you can enter without a visa. If you're visiting for reasons other than tourism (including visiting family) you will need to apply for a visa before you go. Your passport needs to be valid for a full six months after your date of departure from Indonesia. You may be asked to show proof of onward travel by immigration, so we recommend booking all flights before leaving for Jakarta. For long-haul flights we recommend arriving at the airport at least two and a half hours before departure.
