Arrival terminals at Singapore Airport are usually only announced two hours before landing. All of the airport's terminals are connected by a free Skytrain service, and you can also walk between them. If you're en route to Australia or another Southeast Asian country and have a five hour or longer layover you can take advantage of the free city tour service. There are Free Singapore Tour booths located in every terminal. If you're staying in Singapore it's easy to get into the city centre. There's a Ground Transport Desk in every arrival hall and from here you can book flat-rate transport to your hotel. By day you can expect to pay $20-30* (about £10-15) for a ride into the city, and at night you'll pay an extra 50% as a surcharge. There's also an MRT station, where you can ride to Tanah Merah and change to a city-bound service. Tickets cost $1.90* (about 95p) plus a $1* (roughly 50p) deposit. There are also bus stations in each terminal, and you can expect to pay less than $2* (about £1) for a trip into the city. Avis and Budget have desks in every terminal, and Hertz have a base in terminals 2 and 3. Remember to compare car hire at Singapore Airport to find the best prices.
