Airlines that fly from Gatwick to Alicante
Air Europa, British Airways, easyJet, Monarch Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, and Tui all fly from Gatwick to Alicante. It's in the top ten of the airport's busiest routes, so we recommend booking your flight as soon as possible.
Terminal Information – Departing
Air Europa, Monarch and Norwegian all depart from the south terminal. British Airways, easyJet and Tui fly from the north terminal. If you're planning on arriving at Gatwick by train, and your flight is leaving from the north terminal, give yourself a little extra time to navigate the airport. The train station is in the south terminal and you will need to take the free inter-terminal shuttle to reach your departure gate.
Both the south and north terminals have a huge array of shops and restaurants to choose from. Both offer free Wi-Fi for 45 minutes. When you fly to Spain you can take advantage of tax free shopping at the airport. There are plenty of high street fashion stores as well as luxury stores specialising in premium spirits, perfume and make-up. Dining at the airport is varied, whether you're looking for a quick coffee, a plate of pub grub or a proper sit-down meal. Jamie Oliver has three outposts in the north terminal: Union Jack's Bar, Jamie's Italian, and Jamie's Bakery.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Alicante Airport has one terminal. You'll find a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals area. Taxis charge about €20-25 (about £14.75-£18.45) for the trip into Alicante. Car rental desks are inside the terminal: you can compare car hire at Alicante Airport with Skyscanner if you're planning a self-drive holiday. Bus stops are upstairs, outside the departure level. Bus number C-6 costs €3.85* (about £2.85) for a single ticket will take you to Alicante bus station. From here you can find onward transport to the region's major towns and resorts.
Practical Information
You need a valid passport to fly to Spain from the UK. We recommend arriving at the airport 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart. It's a good idea to give yourself extra time if you're checking in baggage, or if you're travelling during the school holidays. Gatwick Airport can get busy during rush hour as it's a popular hub for business travellers.
What to expect in Alicante
Spain is one hour ahead of the UK. The currency is the Euro (€). The prices in Alicante are a lot cheaper than London. Expect to pay around £22 in a restaurant for dinner for two, and just over £1 for a pint of local lager. The weather is also exceptional. Even if you visit in winter you can expect temperatures higher than 12°C.
