Pakistan International Airlines and Shaheen Air fly direct to Manchester from Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
Benazir Bhutto International Airport has one departure hall serving both domestic and international flights. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and in the business lounge. Places to eat after passing through security include The Elbow Room and Dunkin Donuts. There's also a snack bar where you can grab some takeaway munchies for the flight. As well as duty free, the departure lounge has shops selling jewellery, sweets and Pakistani handicrafts. The departure area has around 900 seats, but if you want somewhere more comfortable to wait for your flight you can check into the Rawal Lounge or, if you're travelling first or business class, the CIP Lounge.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Manchester Airport has three terminals. They're all within walking distance of each other, although be ready for some exercise: it's the largest UK airport outside of London. There's a direct train from the airport's station to Manchester Piccadilly in the city centre. Ticket prices are inexpensive, and you can reach the station using the walkway from terminals 1 and 2 (passengers landing at terminal 3 need to walk through terminal 1). The city's Metrolink tram network also has a stop at the airport, and is a better option than the train if you're heading out into the suburbs. Tickets for the tram costs the same as the train. Coaches are available with National Express (to Chorlton Street) and Stagecoach (to Piccadilly Gardens). Taxis are available, but can be quite expensive. They take about 40 minutes to reach the city centre. Car hire from Manchester Airport is another option. Remember to compare prices with Skyscanner first!
Practical Information
Pakistani citizens need a visa to visit the UK. If you're just popping over for a holiday or to visit family you should apply for a Standard Visitor Visa. We recommend visiting your nearest British embassy or consulate to discuss your options. British citizens travelling home from Pakistan will need to show their passports. We recommend getting to the airport at least three hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
