Airlines that fly from Glasgow to Toronto
Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat and WestJet all fly direct from Glasgow-International to Toronto-Pearson. A number of airlines also offer flights with brief layovers. Icelandair offer indirect flights with a stop in Reykjavik, British Airways offer indirect flights with a stop at London-Heathrow, and United offer indirect flights with a stop at Newark Airport.
There are currently no flights to Toronto from Glasgow-Prestwick.
Terminal Information – Departing
There is only one terminal at Glasgow-International Airport. You can enjoy duty free shopping when you fly to Toronto as Canada is outside the EU. There's a small but well-formed range of shops. Pick up some luxuries at World Duty Free, new tech at Maplin, or some new clothes at The Fashion Place. WHSmith offers light reading and snacks, and you can buy some last-minute essentials at Boots.
Glasgow-International Airport also has a good selection of bars and restaurants. If you're hungry you can sit down for a meal at The Sandpiper or Frankie & Benny's. If you're in the mood for a quick sandwich there's an Upper Crust and an EAT. If you just need a coffee to prepare you for the red-eye you can grab one in Starbucks.
If you're feeling hungry you can relax with a sit-down meal at Frankie & Benny's or The Sandpiper. Have a quick sandwich at EAT or Upper Crust, or just enjoy a coffee and a cake in Starbucks. Make the most of the airport's half hour of free Wi-Fi. If you're travelling with children they can enjoy the soft play area. For a bit of added luxury you can check into the UpperDeck Lounge. Complimentary snacks, drink and Wi-Fi combine with comfy seats to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Air Canada Rouge land at Terminal 1 while WestJet and AirTransat land at Terminal 3. Public transport can be accessed from Terminal 1, which you can reach using the free Terminal Link shuttle bus. The UP Express train connects the airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto. The journey takes 25 minutes, and one-way tickets cost $27.50* (about £13.65). Another option is the public bus, which takes about an hour but is a lot cheaper at cost $3* (about £1.50). There's a taxi rank as well, with a flat rate of $47* (under £24) for the trip into the city centre. Alternatively you can take a (non-stretch) Limousine. These cost a little more at $50* (just over £25). Car rental desks are available in both terminals. If you're planning a self-drive holiday remember to compare car hire prices first.
Practical Information
You need a valid passport to fly from Glasgow to Toronto. You don't need a visa if you're only visiting for a holiday. You will need to bring a print-out of your latest bank statement to prove that you have enough money to support yourself during the trip. This is true even if you're staying with friends or family. If you're visiting for 30 days or more, or if you have a criminal record, get in touch with the Canadian High Commission.
