Jet2, EasyJet and Ryanair all provide direct flights from Glasgow to Faro. Jet 2 and EasyJet flights depart from Glasgow International Airport. Ryanair flights depart from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Terminal Information

Glasgow International Airport

Glasgow Airport has two check-in areas. Check-in for EasyJet is located in the main terminal building. Check-in for Jet2 is located in Terminal 2, a smaller terminal connected to the main terminal by a corridor. Despite the different check-in locations, all security and departure gates are located in the main terminal building.

The departures lounge at Glasgow International Airport is home to a range of shops, cafés and restaurants. Shops include Boots, WHSmith, Dixons, Accessorize and Victoria’s Secret. For food and drink there’s Eat, Starbucks, a Wetherspoon pub, Frankie & Benny’s and Caledonia Bar & Restaurant.

Other facilities at the airport include free Wi-Fi for up to 30 minutes and a Travelex currency exchange. A premium lounge is available for a fee for passengers looking for a quieter place to spend the time before their flight. There’s also a Shop & Collect service, allowing passengers to purchase heavy or fragile items and leave them at the airport ready for collection on the return leg of their journey.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Glasgow Prestwick Airport has just one terminal. Passengers on flights to Faro are advised to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled flight departure time.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport for up to two hours. In the departures hall, there’s a currency exchange, a play area for children, a WHSmith and a duty free store. The airport offers a free Shop & Collect service for any cumbersome items you buy from duty free, allowing you to take advantage of time limited special offers. Food and drink options include a Starbucks before you pass through security and the Elvis Presley Bar in the departures lounge.

Faro Airport

Faro Airport is located four kilometres west of Faro city centre. The airport has just one terminal building.

There are a range of facilities in the arrivals hall, including a cash machine, a pharmacy, a selection of tour operators and a tourist information desk.

Taxis and buses depart from outside the terminal building. Local buses from the airport to the city centre run between 5am and 11pm every day and taxis are available 24 hours a day.

If you are planning to hire a car from the airport, you’ll find car hire desks located in the arrivals hall. Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise and Goldcar are all based there.

What to Expect in Faro

Faro is warm for most of the year with summer temperatures reaching 29°c. Rainfall is much less common than in Glasgow and winter weather is usually much warmer too.
