Terminal Information – Departing
Glasgow Airport only has one terminal. Once you go through security you'll find all of the usual airport shops. There's a Boots (in case you forgot to pack your toothbrush), a Maplin (in case you forgot your plug adapter) and a WH Smith (in case you forgot to bring something to read on the 'plane). World Duty Free often has fantastic deals and offers on selected luxury brands. There are plenty of places to eat, whether you're in the mood for a quick baguette or something more substantial. The Sandpiper bar is handy if you need to steady your nerves: just remember to take it easy, as flight crew have the right to reject passengers they feel have had too much to drink. Glasgow Airport also has a VIP lounge, Upper Deck, which all travellers on all airlines can access for a fee.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Like all German airports, Dusseldorf Airport benefits from excellent public transport connections. The airport S-bahn (suburban rail) station is served by two trains: the S7 and S11. These take roughly ten minutes to reach the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in the city centre. Tickets cost €2.50* (about £1.95). Numerous bus routes serve the airport, including line 721 to the Hauptbahnhof and the 896 to Dusseldorf-Messe exhibition centre. You can check the city's bus schedules online. We recommend doing this before you fly so that you don't get flustered. Hotels in Dusseldorf often offer airport transfer services, or may be able to pre-book a taxi for you. If not, don't worry: there's a taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. You can expect to pay around €22* (just over £17) if you're going to the city centre. The journey should take around 20 minutes. Car hire from Dusseldorf Airport is also available. Companies operating from the airport include Avis, Buchbinder, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Sixt.
