What to expect in The Algarve
No need to set your watch: Portugal has the same time zone as the UK. The currency is the Euro (€). The Algarve is renowned for its fantastic weather, with more than 300 days of sunshine each year. While summer (June to September) is the most popular time to visit, you can pop over in the depths of winter and still enjoy pleasant temperatures. The resorts can be very quiet during the low-season, with some bars closing down completely between October and March. Most people in The Algarve can speak English, but we recommend learning a few basic phrases in Portuguese just in case.
