Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport only has one terminal and the check-in desks are located on the ground floor of the main terminal. Passengers travelling from Edinburgh to Leeds should arrive around 2 hours before their flight departs. Leeds Airport
Leeds Bradford Airport is located approximately 10 miles north-west of Leeds city centre. You can travel from the airport to Leeds city centre via bus or taxi.
Buses run by City Link and Flying Tiger (the latter have power points and free Wi-Fi) connect the airport to the city centre and surrounding areas. The journey takes around 35 minutes and can be pre-booked online.
The airport's dedicated private hire taxi company is Arrow Cars. Their office is directly outside the terminal building and transfers can be pre-booked online or on the Arrow Cars app, or pop into the office when you arrive. Taxis can carry up to 8 passengers and there's the option to pay by card. Journey time to the city centre is approximately 30 minutes, dependent on traffic.
Car hire rental companies based here include Avis, Hertz, Europcar and Enterprise and you can book your car hire online, which is recommended or directly at the rental desks located close to the international arrivals area in the main terminal building.
What to expect in Leeds
Leeds is the largest city in West Yorkshire, located close to the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales and within easy reach of York and Harrogate. As much of the city centre is pedestrianised and fairly compact, the best way to get around is on foot, or you can hop on the Leeds City Bus. The climate here is usually a few degrees warmer than Edinburgh (although no less rainy), with winter temperatures averaging 3-10ºC and summer temperatures ranging from around 14-22ºC on average.
You can enjoy a meal out in Leeds for around the same price as in Edinburgh, sometimes slightly cheaper, depending on where you go. It's possible to find excellent value light bites and snacks at the city's independent cafes and there are also a number of excellent curry houses in the city.
