Airlines that fly from Dublin to Rome
Direct flights from Dublin, Ireland to Rome, Italy are operated by Ryanair and Aer Lingus. Ryanair flights fly to Rome Ciampino Airport and Aer Lingus flies to Fiumicino Airport.
Terminal Information
Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport has two terminals, if you are flying with Ryanair you will need to head to Terminal 1 where your flight will depart. If you’re travelling with Aer Lingus to Rome, you will need to head to Terminal 2. Aer Lingus passengers can check in at the airport, or to save time and streamline your check-in process the online check-in facilities are recommended.
Both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 departure lounges at Dublin Airport offer a similar range of facilities. Both have The Loop, the main airport shop offering designer brands, beauty products, toys and alcoholic drinks as well as a small selection of places to eat. Places to eat in Terminal 1 include McDonalds and Alcock and Brown whereas Terminal 2 offers Burger King, The Slaney, Harvest Market, The Chocolate Lounge and Flutes Champagne Bar. There’s an executive lounge in each terminal offering complimentary snacks, drinks and a quieter environment for €19.95 for 3 hours.

Rome Fiumicino Airport
Rome Fiumicino Airport, or Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport is the main international airport serving Rome, 35km from Rome City Centre. Aer Lingus flights to Fiumicino Airport arrive into Terminal 3.
There are plenty of onward travel options from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Rome, these include buses, taxis, trains and car hire. There are a number of bus services which depart from Terminal 3 bus station, these include the T.A.M service which is €5 per person, the Terravision Shuttle at €6 per person and the SIT Airport Bus at €6 per person. All travel to the city centre. Terminal 3 has a train station and Leonardo Express train services depart from the airport twice every hour taking just 30 minutes to reach Rome. If you have hired a car from Fiumicino Airport you will need to head to the Torre Uffici 2 car park, following the signs from the terminal to the walkway.
If you’d prefer to take a taxi into Rome a fixed fare is in operation at €48 for up to 4 people.
Rome Ciampino Airport
Rome Ciampino Airport is closer to Rome, just 12km to the south east of the city. There is just one terminal at the airport, and the majority of the flights arriving here are with Ryanair.
You can take a taxi, rental car, or bus from the airport. A number of bus services are available with a journey time of 40 minutes. If you wish to travel by train or metro into Rome, there are bus services available from the airport to Ciampino Train Station, or the Anagnina metro station.
What to expect in Rome
Although Rome has a reputation for being expensive, you will find the costs to be more or less the same as what you would pay in Dublin especially in the areas popular with tourists.
Rome has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and warm winters, and some of the highest levels of daylight hours in Europe. Whatever time of year you visit you can expect temperatures to be warmer, and hours of sunshine each day to be longer than Dublin.
