Terminal Information
Dublin Airport
There are two terminals at Dublin Airport, Ryanair flights depart from Terminal 1 and Aer Lingus flights depart from Terminal 2. Its important to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight, even if you have checked in online in order to have enough time reach your boarding gate before it closes. If you're travelling with Ryanair you will need to check-in online or by mobile from 30 days to 2 hours before your flight. Ryanair no longer operate staffed check-in desks at Dublin Airport, however there are bag drop desks available if you are flying with hold luggage. Aer Lingus offer online check-in as well as check-in at the airport with 28 check-in desks in the check-in hall and self service kiosks at convenient spots (the check-in hall, level 3 of the car park and just before the security lanes, which are ideal if you have hand luggage only).
Shops and restaurants in the Terminal 1 departure lounge at Dublin Airport include The Loop duty free airport shop which offers a wide range of designer beauty, fashion and gifts, Gate Clock Bar, Refuel Café and Bar, Soho Coffee Co, Burger King, and Starbucks. In Terminal 2 you will also find a The Loop shop with Harvest Market, The Chocolate Lounge, The Slaney and Flutes champagne bar.
Both terminals at Dublin Airport offer free unlimited Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected without worrying about time limits or extra charges.
Prague Airport
Ryanair and Aer Lingus flights from Dublin arrive into Terminal 1 at Prague Vaclav Havel Airport, which is 16km from Prague city centre.
You can make the final connection to your hotel in Prague by bus, taxi or car hire. The car hire desks for Avis, Sixt, Hertz and Budget are available in the Arrivals Hall. Booking in advance is recommended. Taking a taxi can be one of the more easier ways to reach your destination, especially if you are unfamiliar with the city but its worthwhile to ask for an estimated price before you depart to avoid any overcharging. There are a number of taxi companies operating from the taxi rank outside of the airport or you can head to the booking desks in the Arrivals Hall. A typical taxi fare will cost around 700 CZK depending on your destination and time of travel.
There are three main bus routes which depart from the airport to metro or train stations in Prague. You can get further information and tickets from the information counters in the Arrivals Hall. The Airport Express bus services runs from the airport to the main train station in Prague, a single ticket is 60CZK. The 119 runs to the Nádraží Veleslavín station which connects to Line A or the metro and the 100 service runs to Zličín Metro Station on Line B. Single tickets on these services cost 32CZK.
What to expect in Prague
Summer in Prague is warm, and wet with similar temperatures to Dublin but a higher level of rainfall. If you'd prefer to avoid the rain then visiting during Spring and Autumn would be recommended. Winter is a popular time to visit Prague due to the traditional Christmas markets, expect snowfall from November to March and below freezing temperatures.
The currency in Prague is the Czech Koruna. Prague is known for its low cost of living and is now firmly on the map as a destination for a cheap city break. When you're exploring the Czech cuisine at the many restaurants you will find three course meals for two around the €22 (600CZK) price point.
