Airlines that fly from Dublin to Edinburgh
Aer Lingus Regional/Stobart Air and Ryanair fly direct from Dublin to Edinburgh.
Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
Ryanair depart from terminal 1, while Aer Lingus Regional/Stobartair flights leave from terminal 2.
Both terminals at Dublin Airport boast a shopping and entertainment area called 'The Loop'. You can choose from a wide array of places to eat and drink, from high-street favourites to designer boutiques. The Loop offers a Click and Collect service via Dublin Airport's website. If you know you're not going to have enough time to browse the stores before boarding you can buy online and pick up when you arrive at the airport. Both terminals have executive lounges, which are open to all passengers regardless of airline and ticket class. Lounge entry costs €19.95* (about £15.50). With unlimited Wi-Fi and a range of complimentary refreshments, it's a good choice if you need to unwind or get on with a bit of work before you fly.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Edinburgh Airport only has one terminal. It's well connected to the city with express busses, trams and local busses all regularly arriving and departing. The Express Bus is the fastest way to reach the city centre, and terminates at Waverley train station on the east end of Princes Street. Tickets cost £4.50* each way. The tram is slightly more expensive and terminates at York Place: a few streets to the north of Waverley Station. Tram tickets cost £5*. The cheapest way to reach the city is using the number 35 bus, which costs £1.50*. Be careful: it winds its way through Edinburgh's western suburbs and takes over an hour to reach Holyrood Palace (near the city centre). There's a taxi rank a short walk away from the terminal. Cabs are metered, but you can expect to pay around £20* for a trip to Princes Street. Car hire at Edinburgh Airport is also available: you'll find the reception desks in the multi-storey car park, a short walk from the terminal.
Practical Information
Aim to arrive at the airport no later than one hour before your flight is scheduled to depart. Edinburgh and Dublin are both in the Common Travel Area, so technically you don't need a passport to travel between the two: just some valid photographic ID. However some airlines, including Ryanair, only accept passports. We recommend checking your airline's website for a full list of accepted IDs before you fly.
