Terminal Information

Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport, 5 miles north of the city of Dublin has two terminals. Ryanair flights depart from Terminal 1, Aer Lingus flights to Budapest depart from Terminal 2. If you are travelling with Ryanair you should be aware that there are no check-in facilities located within the airport, check-in is only available online or by using the Ryanair mobile app. Aer Lingus have both airport and online check-in options. Passengers on flights to Budapest are advised to arrive at Dublin Airport at least two hours before their flight time. Boarding usually starts around 45 minutes before the flight.

In the Terminal 1 departure lounge you will find The Loop, the main shop in the airport selling a selection of designer beauty, alcoholic drinks and fashion. There is a small choice of places to eat in the mezzanine food court in the lounge, these are McDonalds and Alcock and Brown which offers sandwiches, coffees and a bar.

The Terminal 2 departure lounge at Dublin Airport has The Loop store and a food court full of places to eat including Burger King, The Chocolate Lounge, Flutes Champagne Bar, Harvest Market and The Slaney.

Both terminals have an executive lounge which you can book access to online, in advance of your visit for €19.95 for 3 hours. Access comes with free Wi-Fi, snacks and hot and cold drinks.

Budapest Airport

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is 20km south east of Budapest city centre. There is just one terminal at the airport which is Terminal 2, this is split into two sections. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus flights from Dublin arrive into Terminal 2B.

The Budapest Airport Arrivals Hall has all of the basics such as information points, currency exchange desks, cash machines and up to two hours of free Wi-Fi. There are car hire desks for Avis, Buchbinder, Budget and Sixt available here.

Public transport options from the airport to Budapest city centre are limited to buses, the easiest way to reach the city is the Airport Shuttle Minibus (MiniBud). Tickets can be booked in advance online. There are a number of other bus routes such as the 200E which depart from the airport to various points in the city including the nearby metro and train stations. You can purchase tickets for these at the ticket desk in the Arrivals Hall.

What to expect in Budapest

Budapest has very distinct seasons and temperatures are typically lower than Dublin during winter and higher during summer months. Snowfall and freezing temperatures are not uncommon during Budapest winters.
