Terminal Information – Departing

Cardiff Airport has two long-stay car parks: prices start at £21.50* for the first 24 hours with cheaper prices on subsequent days. The airport itself only has one terminal. You can grab something to eat before you go through security at Caffi Cwtch, or wait until you're in the departure lounge. The departure lounge is home to The Echo Bar and a Caffe Ritazza, so there's something to suit every appetite. Shop 'til you drop at Nuance Tax and Duty Free Shop, Oakley, Fat Face and Superdry or just pick up some in-flight reading at WHSmith. The airport has an executive lounge, perfect if you really want to treat yourself. Entry prices start at £17.50* and this includes complimentary refreshments,  unlimited Wi-Fi and a more comfortable place to relax.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Vueling flights usually land at Barcelona Airport's Terminal 1. If you're planning a self-drive holiday you'll find the car hire reception desks in the arrivals area. Remember to compare car hire at Barcelona Airport to find the best prices. There's a taxi rank outside the terminal, and you can expect to pay about Expect to pay €30-40* (roughly £22-29) for the trip into the city. Fares are higher at night (10pm-6am) and on weekends. If you would rather take public transport, you'll find the bus stops outside the terminal. Aerobus offers an express service to the city centre at €5.90* (about £4.25) for a single ticket or €10.20* (about £7.35) for a 15 day return. Local bus number 46 also goes to the city centre, but takes longer as it isn't an express service. Tickets are just €2* (a little under £1.45). There's also a train station near Terminal 2, which you can reach using the airport's free inter-terminal shuttle. Tickets to central Barcelona €4.10* (just under £3). The train which serves the airport runs to the suburbs beyond Barcelona, so make sure you get off at the right stop in the city.

What to expect in Barcelona

Barcelona is one hour ahead of Cardiff and the currency is the Euro (€). Barcelona has plenty going for it, from buzzing nightlife to gorgeous beaches. Summer temperatures sit around 24°C, perfect for sightseeing and sunbathing. It's a good spot for a winter break too, with average temperatures around 10°C . Barcelona is a lot cheaper than Cardiff, and you can have a great night on a low budget. Bear in mind that Spanish meal times are later than what you'd be used to back home, with lunch and dinner starting an hour later than in the UK.
