The nearest petrol station to Bordeaux Airport is a TOTAL station which is just a six minute drive east. From the airport, head southwest on Rue Rene Cassin the turn left toward Cite Maryse Bastie. At the roundabout take the first exit onto Avenue Roland Garros then the third exit onto Avenue de L’Argonne where the petrol station is visible.

Driving around Bordeaux Airport

Bordeaux Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. Leaving Bordeaux Airport is via the Rue de Cassin which takes drivers to a large roundabout. Going straight across on the D1563 will take visitors to the centre of Bordeaux via the main E5/A630 motorway. Taking the D213 minor road to the left is where several airport hotels are located. Taking the exit on the far right leads to the Avenue Roland Garros to rural Bordeaux but also connects to the main E5/A630 motorway. France has many toll-roads that vary in price. To avoid tolls, it is necessary to use the smaller roads. There are no tolls from the airport to Bordeaux.

Arcachon

Arcachon is Bordeaux’s tropical paradise. Located in Gironde, its powdery soft white sands create a stunning haven along the coast of this charming red-roofed town. Plenty of cafes, swimming pools and charming restaurants make this a tourist favourite.

Just an hour from Bordeaux Airport, get on A630 in Gradignan from Rue de Pessac then onto the Cours Marechal Gallieni, following it to the Avenue de la Vieille Tour and the Cours de la Libération. Take the A63 to Avenue du Haut Lévêque and exit from A63 onto Rue Jean Perrin. Follow the A63/A660 to the N250 in Gujan-Mestras then, take the D1250, Boulevard du Pyla to Allée de la Galaxie in Arcachon. There are tolls to pay on this journey unless you decide to go via smaller back-roads.

Saint Emilion

Whether it’s wine tasting or walking the Santiago de Compostella, Saint Emilion is a lush, green and quintessentially French region with landscapes of sweeping vineyards, rustic villages and ancient monasteries. The food here is also rather good.

From Bordeaux Airport, take Cours Victor Hugo and Boulevard des Frères Moga to the A631 and head west taking a left onto the Rue Elisée Reclus. Take a right onto Place Rohan, left onto Place Pey Berland, right onto Rue du Maréchal Joffre, left onto Rue de Cursol and right onto the ramp to Rocade/Salinières. Turn left onto Boulevard des Frères Moga and follow the N230, E70/N89 and D1089 to Libourne. Continue onto A631 and follow signs for Arcachon. Parking in Arcachon is plentiful both on-street and in local car parks.

Bordeaux

This port city on the Garonne River is a beguiling mix of Gothic Cathedrals, stunning wines, a feast of mouth-watering cuisine and museums, galleries and green spaces lining its graceful streets. Bordeaux is ideal for a cultural city break.

It takes about 25 minutes to reach the centre of Bordeaux from Bordeaux Airport via the Rue Rene Cassin, onto the main E5/A630 motorway and finally along the Avenue de Peychotte into the centre of Bordeaux. Parking in Bordeaux is cheaper in the outskirts of the city but is available in the centre. On-street parking is Pay & Display between Monday and Saturday, 9am to 7pm and costs from €2.20 per hour. The maximum time limit is 2 hours. The is unlimited parking in the city centre car parks from €2 per hour. Park and Ride is also available and costs €2.60 for parking and public transport. Some hotels in Bordeaux have car parking which is free if you are staying with them.
