Bristol Airport lies roughly 7 miles southwest of Bristol’s city centre. The airport is well-equipped with traveller essentials such as ATMs, a bureau de change, and free Wi-Fi access for last-minute trip research. For a quick bite to eat before boarding your flight, there are several coffee chains such as Starbucks, Caffé Ritazza, and Soho Coffee Co, all of which offer small snacks such as sandwiches and cakes. For something more filling, Dexters Restaurant offers grills such as steaks as well as alcoholic drinks. There’s also a WH Smith for snacks and drinks, as well as the obligatory holiday novel. Superdrug offers last-minute holiday essentials such as sunscreen and travel sickness tablets.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Gibraltar Airport is situated just 2 km from Gibraltar town centre. If you are taking a taxi to a destination within Gibraltar, you will be able to find a taxi outside of the arrivals. Alternatively, there is a regular bus service that goes to and from Gibraltar town centre. If you are travelling to a destination in Spain, you will need to walk across the border (the airport is situated on the border) to take a Spanish taxi as Gibraltar taxi companies are not allowed to operate in Spain. Similarly, if you want to take a bus to a destination in Spain, you will need to cross the border by foot to La Linea Bus Station, which is located on Calle San Felipe. Gibraltar airport car hire is another option for travelling in the area. Avis and Autos Aguirre operate from the airport, while Goldcar and Europcar operate from La Linea on the Spanish side of the border.
Practical Information
Although Gibraltar is a British overseas territory, a valid passport is still required to enter Gibraltar from the UK. You should aim to arrive at Bristol Airport at least two hours before your flight is due to depart.
