Birmingham Airport has one terminal. The departure lounge has a wide array of places to eat, drink, and relax. If you're flying to Frankfurt on business, or just like a bit of added luxury, you can check into one of two airport lounges. The Aspire Lounge and No.1 Traveller Lounge both offer unlimited Wi-Fi and a more comfortable environment, perfect for getting some last minute work done. If you're feeling peckish there are plenty of options to choose from. If you want to sit down to eat there are restaurants like Giraffe and Frankie & Benny's, or if you're just after a tipple you can choose from the likes of Wetherspoon's and Blanc et Noir Champagne Bar.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Flights from Birmingham usually arrive at Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 1. It's easy to reach the city centre using public transport. There's an S-bahn (overground train) station in the terminal. Lines S8 and S9 go direct to the city centre. Tickets cost €4.55* (about £3.20). You can also take bus number 61 into the city, although it's a bit slower due to traffic. Taxi ranks are available outside each terminal. You need a valid passport to fly from Birmingham to Frankfurt. It's best to arrive at the airport about two hours before your flight is due to depart.

What to expect in Frankfurt

Frankfurt is one hour ahead of Birmingham and the currency is the Euro (€). Frankfurt is cheaper than Birmingham. Expect to pay about £36* for a three-course meal for two and about £2.50* for a pint of beer. The temperatures in Frankfurt are quite extreme, with warm summers and very cold winters. Expect an average temperature of 24°C in the summer: during heatwaves temperatures soar to above 30°C. During winter the temperature hovers around the 'freezing' mark, so pack plenty of cosy clothes if you're visiting for the famous Christmas markets.
