Airlines that fly from Athens to Corfu
Aegean Airlines, Olympic Airlines and Ryanair all fly direct to Corfu from Athens. This is the ninth busiest domestic route from Athens Airport so we recommend booking your flight as early as possible.
Terminal Information – Departing

Athens International Airport has two terminals. Flights to Corfu usually depart from the main terminal's Hall B. Aegean Airlines have a lounge in this part of the airport. There are lots of shops at Athens Airport including designer brands (Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, Links of London) as well as convenience stores selling toiletries, electronics, magazines and duty free. Places to eat include McDonalds, Le Grand Comptoir, and Puro Gusto. There's also a Heineken Bar if you need a pre-flight tipple, and an Illy Coffee if your flight is far too early in the morning. The airport also has a bank, post office, and a branch of the Greek tourism board. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport for 45 minutes at a time. You can log back in after the initial 45 minutes for free, or pay a fee for the premium service and not be logged out at all.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Corfu Airport is less than two miles from the town of Corfu, but you should expect to pay about €10* for a taxi ride from the airport to the centre. Car hire at Corfu Airport is a good option if you want to explore the island without relying on local buses. Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt are all based at the airport. Local buses 5 and 6 run between the airport and the town and take about ten minutes to reach the town.
Practical Information
You don't need a passport to fly on domestic routes. You might be asked to show some photographic identification before boarding, however, so we recommend keeping your passport on you anyway. Try to arrive no later than one hour before your flight is scheduled to depart.
What to expect in Corfu
If you're visiting during summer you'll find the temperatures in Corfu a lot milder than those in Athens. Average summer temperatures are 4°C cooler during July at 25°C. It's still very warm, however: the average high temperature during summer is 31°C. Winter temperatures are warm too, with highs of 15°C common throughout December and January. Prices in Corfu are generally lower than prices in the capital. The only exception is domestic beer: a pint is about 50 cents more expensive in Corfu than in Athens.
