Terminal Information

Malaga Airport

Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport has three terminals, Ryanair and Tui flights to Manchester depart from Terminal 2 and Easyjet, Monarch and Jet2 flights depart from Terminal 3.  Passengers on flights to Manchester should arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight time. Tui, Monarch and Jet2 have check-in desks on floor 1 of their respective terminals, as well as online and mobile check-in facilities. Ryanair and Easyjet don't have check-in facilities at the airport and you will be required to check-in online or via mobile up to two hours before your flight.

In Terminal 2 you will have a small choice of shops and restaurants. These are The Express Duty Free Shop, a tobacconist's, Caffe Ritazza, and Upper Crust.

Terminal 3 is the newest, and now most used terminal at the airport. Here you will find a greater selection of shops such as World Duty Free, LOL Sweets, Gap, Sunglass Hut, Superdry amongst others. If you want a bite to eat or drinks before your flight to Manchester there's places including Haagen Dazs, Soho Coffee Co., Starbucks, Mum's Kitchen, Sea Food and O'Learys.

Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport, located 10 miles south of Manchester has three terminals. Easyjet and Jet2 flights from Malaga arrive into Terminal 1, Monarch and Tui flights arrive into Terminal 2 and Ryanair flights arrive into Terminal 3. All three arrivals halls have a coffee shop and convenience store as well as ATMs and onward travel information points.

You can hire a car from Manchester Airport and if you're planning on doing this it would be recommended to book your car online in advance. The car hire companies are located together at the Car Rental Village and a shuttle bus departs every 10 minutes from each terminal to take you to collect your car.

The airport has a train station which can be reached on foot via moving walkways from all three terminals, taking between 5 and 10 minutes to reach. Train services from Manchester Airport to Manchester city centre run every 10 minutes and takes 20 minutes.  This is the easiest way to reach Manchester city centre.

Alternatively you can travel by Metrolink Tram, the tramline runs from the airport to Cornbrook with stops at key points such as Didsbury and Wythenshawe.

There are plenty of taxis available from the airport, and it will take around 25 minutes and cost £25-30 to reach Manchester city centre.

What to expect in Manchester

Manchester is one of the UK's most popular destinations for a city break with a wealth of history particularly when it comes to the industrial revolution, attractions, an active music scene to explore.

The cost of living is higher in Manchester and you will be paying a lot more compared to Malaga for eating out, alcoholic drinks, hotels and general shopping trips.

Manchester is considerably cooler than Malaga, with temperatures around 8-10 degrees lower throughout the year. Unlike Malaga, rainfall in Manchester is consistent throughout the year and snow is a possibility between December and March.
