Thomas Cook Airlines is the only airline offering direct flights from Manchester to Miami.

Airlines providing flights with one stop include Qatar, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa and Delta. Qatar flights stop in Doha, Virgin Atlantic flights stop at London Heathrow, Lufthansa flights stop in Frankfurt and Delta flights stop at New York JFK Airport.

Terminal Information

Manchester Airport

There are three terminals at Manchester Airport. Thomas Cook Airlines and Lufthansa flights leave from Terminal 1. Qatar, Virgin Atlantic and Delta flights leave from Terminal 2. The airport advises passengers on long haul flights to arrive at the airport three hours before their scheduled departure time.

Both terminals offer a wide range of facilities for passengers. There’s free Wi-Fi available for up to one hour, currency exchange desks, duty free stores and premium lounges. Passengers will also find an extensive selection of shops and food outlets to choose from.

Miami International Airport

Miami International Airport is located eight miles northwest of Miami city centre. The airport has three terminals, North, Central and South. Qatar, Thomas Cook Airlines and Virgin Atlantic all arrive to the North-D terminal, and Delta and Lufthansa flights arrive to the South-J terminal.

Arrivals to the North Terminal D enter the terminal on the first floor. Just outside, you’ll find taxis and SuperShuttle vans. Up on the third floor, you can catch the Skyride shuttle which takes you between terminals and car parks. The third floor is also home to the MIA Mover Station from which you can access the Rental Car Center and bus and rail services.

Arrivals to the South Terminal J enter the terminal on the 3rd floor. As with the North Terminal, ground transportation is located on the first level and both Skyride and MIA Mover Station on the third floor.

Both terminals also offer a currency exchange, pay as you go Wi-Fi, cash machines, tourist information desks and a variety of food and shopping outlets.

Miami Airport’s Car Rental Center is located a short MIA Mover shuttle ride from the airport terminals. At the car hire centre you’ll find a variety of companies including Advantage, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Firefly, National, Payless and Sixt. The MIA Mover also transports passengers to Central Station, where it’s possible to take a bus or train into the city centre.

If you choose to take a taxi or shuttle van from the airport into the city centre, the airport advises passengers to book at official Taxi and Shuttle stands located outside both terminals.

Practical Information

British nationals don’t need a visa for visits to the US of up to 90 days. This because of a Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) currently in place. If you are planning to travel under the VWP, you need to make an online declaration of your travel plans through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA). You’ll need to do this at least 72 hours before you travel and will need to enter details about your flight and accommodation for your first night in the US.

What to Expect in Miami

The Art Deco city of Miami is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world thanks to diverse beaches, nightlife and the great selection of things to do.

The weather in Miami is warm throughout the year with average winter temperatures of around 20°c in the daytime and average summer temperatures of around 30°c. May to October is the hottest period but also the most humid. During these months, you’re likely to experience the odd downpour.
