Connecting flights to Madrid usually depart from George Best Belfast City Airport. The airport has one terminal. Although it's small it's fully functional with a good range of places to eat and drink. There's an O'Briens Sandwich Bar for a quick bite, a Harvest Market for something more substantial, and the Bushmills Bar for pub grub. There's also a Costa and an Espression Lavazza if you need a caffeine hit. Shops include House of Ireland, Boots, WH Smith and World Duty Free. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. Passengers flying business class with British Airways can use the BA Lounge, while everyone else can check into the Aspire Lounge for a fee.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport is huge. It's well served by public transport and there are plenty of signposts to keep you on the right track. Metro stations are available in each terminal. Underground trains take about 15 minutes to reach Nuevos Ministerios train station in the city centre, and from here you can hop on another line to reach your destination. It's a good idea to plan your route before arriving at the airport so that you don't get lost or confused. Buses from the airport include line 203 to Atocha train station, line 200 to Avenida de America transport hub and line 101 to Canillejas transport hub. Metered cabs are available. Note that fares are higher during evenings, weekends and public holidays. Another option is car hire from Madrid Airport, a great option if you want to explore outside the city.
