Terminal Information
Southampton Airport
Southampton Airport is a small airport with just one terminal. It is easy to navigate and the journey from check-in to departures is usually very quick. The airport advises passengers on UK and Ireland flights to check-in an hour before their scheduled flight departure time. Online and self-service check-in is also available.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport terminal for up to four hours. The departures lounge has a range of other facilities too. The Olive Tree café bar or Costa Coffee are the places to go for a quick bite to eat or, if you have a little more time, there’s The Globe Bar & Kitchen, a pub serving a range of food and drink.
Shops in the departures lounge include WHSmith and World Duty Free. There’s also a Moneycorp currency exchange. The airport offers a free Shop and Collect service whereby, should you purchase any heavy or bulky items you don’t want to travel with, you can pick them up from a designated point on your return journey.
For passengers looking for a quiet start to their journey, there’s the Priority Lounge, available for £15* per person. In the lounge, passengers have access to unlimited Wi-Fi, complimentary refreshments, device charging points and lots of comfortable seating. You can either pre-book online or pay on the day.
Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is located around 10 kilometres north of Dublin city centre. The airport is divided into two terminals with Flybe flights arriving to Terminal 1.
In the arrivals hall passengers will find a Bank of Ireland, where it’s possible to exchange currency, and car rental desks. Car hire from Hertz, Europcar, Dooley, Budget and Avis can be booked in advance or upon arrival. Sixt, Enterprise and Thrifty also provide a car hire service from Dublin Airport but these companies require passengers to book in advance. It will take around 20 minutes to drive from the airport into Dublin city centre.
Other options for getting into the city include a number of coaches and buses. As well as local services, there are various airport shuttle buses to choose from. Dublin Bus travels to both Heuston and Connolly Rail stations, Aircoach goes to the city centre, South Dublin and Greystones, and Airlink goes to both bus and rail stations in the city centre. Taxis are also available outside the terminal building.
Practical Information
Because Britain and Ireland are part of the Common Travel Area, British nationals travelling between the two do not need to show their passport. However, if you don’t have your passport, all airlines will want to see some other form of photographic identification. Flybe accept a range of different types of ID so check their website to make sure yours is on the list.
