Terminal Information – Departing

Southampton Airport has one terminal. The departure lounge is functional. There are just two shops, World Duty Free and WHSmith. There are three places to eat. The first is The Globe Bar and Kitchen, which is located before security: perfect if you want to eat with friends or family before boarding your flight. If you can't relax until you're through security you can enjoy a meal at The Olive Tree or grab a quick sandwich at Costa. Southampton Airport has a very generous Wi-Fi policy, with four hours of free internet access for every passenger. If you want to kick off your holiday in style you can check into the Priority Lounge. Prices start at £10* per person. The executive lounge has more comfortable seats, faster Wi-Fi, and a complimentary selection of snacks and drinks.

Terminal Information – Arriving

All arrivals at Malaga Airport are filtered through Terminal 3, where baggage claim and passport control are located. The airport is well-connected to the city centre, and there are plenty of public and private transport options. Some holidaymakers choose to arrange private transfers before arriving, but there's a taxi rank just outside the airport if you're only going a short distance. If you want to explore the Costa del Sol, or if you're staying in a rural area, you can hire a car at Malaga Airport. The fastest way to reach the city is by train. The station is a short walk from the terminal, and it takes trains about 12 minutes to reach the city centre. Single tickets are just €1.40* (about £1). Bus A also goes into Malaga, but the service is slower and surprisingly more expensive at €3* (about £2.20) per ticket.

What to expect in Malaga

Malaga is one hour ahead of Southampton and the currency is the Euro (€). The Costa Del Sol is one of the most budget friendly destinations in Europe. Expect to pay no more than £1* for a pint of local draught beer, and less than £25* for a three-course dinner for two. The high season in Malaga is between June and August, when temperatures hover around the 25°C mark. The city is worth visiting during the winter too, with temperatures of 13°C.
