Thomas Cook Airlines fly from Terminal 1. The departure lounge has a few high-street shops like Monsoon, Boux Avenue and Fat Face as well as airport favourites Biza Duty Free, WH Smith and Travelex. As you're flying to a destination outwith the EU you can make the most of tax free shopping. Peckish travellers are spoiled for choice, with food options ranging from Upper Crust and Starbucks to Cafe Balzar and Giraffe. There are two bars in the terminal, The Grain Loft and Bar MCR.

Virgin Atlantic fly from Terminal 2. Check-in is on the ground floor and the departure lounge is upstairs. Shops include Biza Duty Free, Dixons Travel, Travelex, WH Smith and Boots. If you're hungry you can grab a quick bite in Burger King, a sit-down meal at Frankie & Benny's, or some pub grub at The Observatory Bar. There are two coffee shops, Brodericks and Caffe Nero.

Practical Information

You should arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight departs. British citizens don't need a visa to visit the USA for 90 days or less, as long as they're eligible for the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). This is available if you're visiting for tourism, business meetings or just passing through. If you've ever been arrested, plan to work state-side, or have visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria since 2011 (or are dual nationality with these countries) you will need to speak to the American embassy.
