Airlines that fly from London to Grenoble
Monarch, British Airways and EasyJet all provide direct flights from London to Grenoble. Monarch and British Airways fly from London Gatwick Airport. EasyJet fly from London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
Terminal Information
London Gatwick
London Gatwick Airport has two terminals, North and South. British Airways and EasyJet flights depart from the North Terminal whilst Monarch flights depart from the South. The terminals are connected by a free 2-minute shuttle train service.
Both terminals at Gatwick offer a great range of facilities for passengers. Shops and places to eat in both terminals include Boots, Case, Ted Baker, Sunglass Hut, World Duty Free, Caviar House + Prunier Seafood Bar, Starbucks, Wetherspoon pubs and Caffe Nero. There’s also currency exchange desks and premium lounges.
There is 90 minutes of free Wi-Fi access.
London Luton Airport
London Luton Airport has just one terminal. In the departures hall passengers will find currency exchange desks, a duty free store and lots of high street food and drink venues including Pret a Manger, Pip and Frankie and Benny’s. Shops include Accessorize, Boots, JD Sports, Sunglass Hut and Dixons Travel.
Passengers can purchase a Fast Track pass to speed up their journey through security or upgrade to a premium lounge.
Free Wi-Fi is available for up to 30 minutes and charges then start at £3 per hour.
Stansted Airport
London Stansted Airport also has just one terminal. Facilities for passengers include Fast Track security passes, which are available for purchase outside the security area, and free Wi-Fi available for up to an hour. After an hour, Wi-Fi access costs £3 for one hour, £5 for three hours or £9 for 24 hours.
The departures lounge at Stansted is home to a currency exchange, a duty free store and a variety of food and drink outlets including Burger King, a Wetherspoon pub and Starbucks. There are also lots of high street shops where you can stock up on travel essentials such as Fat Face, The Body Shop and Next.
Grenoble Airport
Grenoble Airport (also known as Grenoble–Isère Airport) is located 40 kilometres northwest of Grenoble and has just one terminal. In the arrivals hall passengers will find a snack bar and easy access to onward travel options.
To your left as you exit the arrivals hall, you’ll find bus stops and a taxi rank providing routes into Grenoble and surrounding areas. Ben’s Bus Shuttles travel from the airport specifically to French resorts including Les Deux Alpes, Tignes and Vald’Isere.
Car hire is also available from the airport, with a car rental centre located opposite the arrivals hall. Companies based at the airport include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and Enterprise. It’s worth nothing that offices either close or have limited opening times out of the winter ski season.
What to Expect in Grenoble
Grenoble enjoys warm summers and cold winters. Temperatures in July and August regularly reach the high twenties and beyond, whilst winter temperatures hover between 7°c and -1°c, perfect for travellers planning on enjoying some winter sports in the Alps.
The cost of living in Grenoble is generally a little cheaper than in London. A mid-range three course meal for two will set you back around €45.00, a bottle of beer costs on average €4.00 and a one way journey on public transport costs just €1.50.
