Terminal Information – Departing
There's only one terminal to navigate at East Midlands Airport. The security area has an Express Lane. Children under five can use it for free, but parents and other family members will need to pay the usual price of £3* per person. Everyone can enjoy one hour of free Wi-Fi on their smartphones in the terminal. There's an Escape Lounge at the airport which is ideal if you want to do some work before flying to Dublin: or if you just fancy a treat. The lounge has complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as hot and cold food and drinks.
There's plenty to keep you entertained in the main concourse. All of the usual airport shops are there. Browse the luxury goods in World Duty Free, check out the electricals in Dixon's Travel, or just pick up some last minute toiletries at Boots. The food court offers plenty in the way of refreshment, from quick coffee (Flat White Coffee Club) and sandwiches (Grab and Fly) to slap-up Italian meals (Frankie & Benny's) and locally sourced goodies (Pork & Pickle, Castle Rock Tap Room & Kitchen). There's really no excuse to fly on an empty stomach.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Ryanair flights land at Terminal 1 and Aer Lingus land at Terminal 2. The arrival areas are within walking distance of each other, with a public transport hub in the middle. There are taxi ranks outside both terminals. Aircoach 700 is the fastest way to reach the city centre. Single tickets cost €9* (about £6.50) while returns are €15* (about £11). The local Dublin Bus 747 takes longer to reach town but costs less, at €6 (about £4.35) for a single and €10 (about £7.25) for a return. Car rental desks are located in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall and in the Terminal 2 multi-storey car park. Remember to compare prices on car hire at Dublin Airport to get the best value for money.
Practical Information
Ireland and the UK are members of the Common Travel Area so you don't need your passport, just photographic ID (such as your driving license). Bear in mind that some airlines, including Ryanair, only accept passports as a form of ID. Check the terms of your ticket carefully before going to the airport.
What to expect in Dublin
