Airlines that fly from Edinburgh to Milan
easyJet offer direct flights from Edinburgh to Milan-Malpensa. British Airways also offer connecting flights to Milan-Malpensa via London. Connecting flights to Milan-Linate are available through KLM via Amsterdam, Brussels Airlines via Brussels, Air France via Paris, British Airways via London and Lufthansa via Frankfurt.
Terminal Information – Departing
Edinburgh Airport has one terminal, with check-in and bag-drop desks on the ground floor and airport security on the first floor. The departure lounge is modern and although it's quite small it has a great range of shops, restaurants, and places to relax. There's ample seating so you can enjoy the airport's two hours of free Wi-Fi, as well as a spa, art gallery, and two executive lounges (Aspire and No.1 Traveller). There are eateries for every price-point and appetite in the departures area, whether you're in the mood for a relaxed lunch in Wetherspoons or a more formal meal at Thermidor's Seafood and Champagne Bar. World Duty Free offers a wide range of luxury gifts, but anything you can't find in there you can pick up at the airport's other shops. These include Dixon's Travel, Boots, Accessorize, MAC Cosmetics, Jo Malone and Kurt Geiger.
Terminal Information – Arriving
At Milan-Linate: The airport has one arrivals hall. Express bus X73 offers the cheapest way to reach the city centre, as single tickets are only €1.50* (about £1.10). The Starfly bus is faster, but tickets are pricier at €5* (about £3.70) for a single. If you don't want to take public transport you'll find a taxi rank just outside. There's a minimum charge of €12* (about £8.85) for a taxi from the airport, but be prepared to spend up to €20* (roughly £15).
At Milan-Malpensa: BMI Regional usually land at Terminal 2. You will need to take the free inter-terminal shuttle to Terminal 1, where most of the public transport is located. The fastest way to reach the city centre is by Express Train with a journey time of under 40 minutes. One-way tickets are €12* (about £8.85). Buses are also available from outside Terminal 1: expect to pay about €10* (about £7.40). Taxis into the city centre have a fixed fee of €90 (around £66).

What to expect in Milan
Milan is one hour ahead of Edinburgh and the currency is the Euro (€). The weather in Milan is gorgeous during summer, with an average temperature of 23°C, but during winter the city can easily become colder than Edinburgh. Milan is quite an expensive city, with prices on a par with what you'd expect to pay at home.
