What to expect in Liverpool

Liverpool was named 'European Capital of Culture 2008' and is probably best known as the birthplace of The Beatles – but there's more to this vibrant city than its musical heritage. Liverpool is said to be one of the world's friendliest cities and it's a popular tourist destination – you'll also find more Grade II listed buildings here than anywhere else in the UK (except London).

The best time to visit Liverpool is in the summer months, when warmer temperatures and longer, sunnier days let you see the city at its best, although bear in mind attractions will be busier. Spring in Liverpool is quite pleasant but can be wet – bring an umbrella and it can still be an appealing time of year to visit the city.
