Terminal Information

Budapest Airport

Budapest Airport, also known as Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, has just one terminal, split into two sections. This terminal is still named Terminal 2 even though the original Terminal 1 is now out of service.

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight departure time. Check-in desks for British Airways, Wizz Air flights to London are all based at Terminal 2B. Easyjet and Ryanair passengers will need to use the online or mobile check-in facilities provided by the airlines.

The airport offers a variety of facilities for passengers. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport for up to two hours and passengers can buy a Fast Track pass to speed up their journey through security. The departure lounge is home to a currency exchange desk as well as great selection of food, drink and shopping outlets.

London Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow Airport is home to a number of terminals. British Airways flights from Budapest arrive to Terminal 3. In the arrival hall at Terminal 3, passengers will find food and drink outlets, convenience stores and car hire desks.

Taxis are available from a rank outside the terminal and bus and train transport links are well-signposted. If you’re travelling into London city centre, the quickest way to get there is on the Heathrow Express, a direct train service that runs throughout the day. Trains travel from the airport to London Paddington rail station in just 15 minutes, it costs £26.50 for a single ticket. You can travel on the London Underground on the Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus. If you’re travelling to Central London you will need a Zone 1 ticket, this costs £5.70.

London Gatwick Airport

London Gatwick Airport is home to two terminals, North and South. EasyJet flights from Budapest arrive to the North Terminal. The arrivals hall in the North Terminal has all of the facilities you could need; cafes, a convenience store, currency exchange, car hire offices and information points.

Onward travel options from the airport include bus, train and taxi. The quickest way to get from the airport to London city centre is via the Gatwick Express train, which leaves every 15 minutes and reaches London Victoria rail station in 30 minutes. The train is located in the South terminal, to get here from the North Terminal you will need to take the free shuttle service which runs every few minutes.

London Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport has just one terminal. The arrivals hall is home to cash machines and car hire desks for companies including Sixt, Alamo, Budget, Avis, National, Hertz, Sixt and Europcar.  From the airport you can take either National Express or Terravision coach services into London city centre, or catch the Stansted Express Train. The train travels to London Liverpool Street rail station and takes around 50 minutes to make the journey.  Both trains and buses depart every 15 minutes.

London Luton Airport

London Luton Airport also has just one terminal and an arrivals hall with a good selection of facilities for passengers. Car hire offices are located at the rental centre, a short shuttle bus ride from the terminal. Shuttle buses also provide a connection between the airport and local train station (Luton Airport Parkway station) where you can take a train to St. Pancras International Station which takes 30 minutes.

What to Expect in London

The cost of living in London is much higher than in Budapest. From eating out to supermarket shopping to taxi travel, prices are a lot more expensive. A mid-range three course meal for two will cost around £50.00, a bottle of beer will cost around £4.00 and a one way journey on public transport will cost around £2.50.

London experiences less extreme seasons than Budapest. Summer temperatures average out at around 23°c and winter temperatures usually hover between 5°c and 9°c. London is much rainier than Budapest, with particularly high rainfall in October and November.
