Airlines that fly from Bristol to London

There are no direct flights from Bristol to London. Indirect flights are available through Aurigny Air Services (via Guernsey) and Aer Lingus (via Dublin). It's also possible to fly via a number of continental cities such as Geneva, Brussels and Amsterdam.

Terminal Information – Departing

Bristol Airport has one terminal with a small but well-formed range of shops and restaurants. Airport favourites World Duty Free, Dixons Travel, WHSmith and Boots all have an outpost at the airport as do some high street shops such as JD Sports. Refreshments are available from Burger King, Starbucks Dexter's and The Cabin. There are two Aspire lounges at Bristol Airport: the costlier Aspire Plus lounge offers premium snacks and drinks, and is adults only.

Terminal Information – Arriving

London-City: The airport only has one terminal. It's easy to get into the city centre from London-City. Docklands Light Railway (DLR) trains serve the airport every 8-15 minutes, and offer an easy connection to the city's famous underground system. Buses 473 and 474 run between the airport and central London. There's a taxi rank outside, and you can expect to pay about £35* for a trip into the city centre.

London-Gatwick: BothAer Lingus and Aurigny Air Services land at Gatwick's south terminal, where the airport's train station is located. The Gatwick Express offers the quickest way to reach the city centre, and single tickets cost £19.90*. The airport is also served by Local MetroBus, easyBus and National Express. There's also a taxi rank at the airport: you'll pay about £90* for the trip into the city centre, however.

London-Heathrow: Aer Lingus land at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 2. The cheapest way to reach the city is by underground on the Piccadilly Line (£5.70*) which takes about an hour. The fastest is by Heathrow Express (£21.50*) which takes just 15 minutes. The Heathrow Connect train is slightly slower at half an hour, but tickets cost £8.50*. National Express and easyBus coaches serve the airport, and if you have cash to splash you can take a taxi from the rank outside the terminal.

London-Stansted: Stansted Airport has one terminal. The Stansted Express train is the quickest way to reach the city, with single tickets costing £23* and return tickets £33*. National Express and easyBus coaches both serve the airport: tickets start at £2* if you book in advance. Taxis from Stansted Airport are extremely expensive, usually about £70* into the city centre.

Practical Information

Guernsey and Ireland are both members of the Common Travel Area, so if your flight passes through either of these destinations you won't need to bring your passport. You will need some form of photographic ID such as your driving license, valid student card, or other form of government issued ID. If in doubt, check the airline's website for a full list of approved ID. If you decide to fly via continental Europe you will need to bring a valid passport. Although your final destination is London, you will be entering the Schengen zone en route.
