Bristol Airport

Bristol Airport recommends all passengers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their scheduled flight time. Blue Island offers online check-in which, along with seat selection can be completed in advance if you have facilities to print your boarding pass. You can also check in at Bristol Airport, check in opens 90 minutes before your flight departure time and closes 45 minutes before.

A small selection of shops and restaurants can be found in the Bristol Airport departures lounge which cover all of the essentials. Popular brands such as Superdrug, WH Smith, Accessorize, Dixons and World Duty Free are all available amongst others. A variety of food and drink options are available in the Cabin Bar, Dexters Chargrill & Bar, Starbucks, Burger King and Soho Coffee Co.

Wi-Fi access is available in Bristol Airport, the first 30 minutes are free with additional time available for a fee.

Jersey Airport

Jersey Airport serves the island of Jersey, located at the south west of the island, 5 miles from the capital of the Island St Helier.

One of the best ways to get around Jersey and reach the many beaches, small towns and attractions is by car through the scenic driving routes. Car hire is available from Jersey Airport from Avis, Europcar and Hertz. A taxi rank is outside of the Arrivals terminal and a typical fare to St. Helier is around £12.

For those travelling via public transport in Jersey the number 15 bus service from Liberty Bus departs from a stop outside of the arrivals terminal and runs to Liberation Station, St Helier, taking 30 minutes. Stops on the way include St Aubin and Red Houses. Buses run every 15 minutes between 8.30am and 6.15pm with a single journey costing £2.

Practical Information

The Channel Islands are part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) which means a passport is not required for travel. You will still be required to carry a form of photo ID such as a driving licence and it is worth checking which forms of ID are accepted by the airline before you travel.

What to expect in Jersey

Jersey can be an expensive place to visit with hotels in Jersey coming in as some of the priciest in the UK. In addition the cost of eating out and drinks can be up to 30% higher in St. Helier compared to Bristol.

The English Channel location of Jersey results in a mild temperate climate all year round, summers are typically cooler than temperatures experienced in Bristol and winters are slightly warmer. Despite the cooler temperatures Jersey and Guernsey are the sunniest places in the British Isles.
