Ryanair are currently the only airline offering direct flights from Bournemouth to Alicante. This is one of the most popular flight routes from this airport, so we recommend booking your flights as early as possible.

Terminal Information – Departing

Bournemouth Airport only has one terminal. The departure lounge is small and has a no-frills atmosphere. Enjoy one hour of free Wi-Fi before you fly. The airport has a small but serviceable selection of shops and restaurants. There's a World Duty Free if you want to pick up some tax-free goodies, and a WHSmith if you need to stock up on some pool-side reading. Enjoy a coffee at Estpresso or sit down for a meal at The Olive Tree Cafe Bar. If you get hungry before you go through security you can grab a sandwich or a shake at Joes.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Alicante Airport has one terminal. The arrivals hall is located immediately underneath the departure area. The bus stop for bus C-6 to Alicante bus station is located outside departures. Tickets cost €3.85* (about £2.70). From the bus station you can take onward transport to the region's major resorts and towns. The majority of people choose to hire a car when they travel to Costa Blanca. All of the major car hire companies are located inside the arrivals hall. You can compare car hire at Alicante Airport with Skyscanner to get the best deal. There's a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals hall. Cabs are metered: it should cost about €20-25* (£14-18) if you're going into Alicante. Taxi prices in Spain are higher at night (10pm-6am) and on weekends.

What to expect in Alicante

Alicante is one hour ahead of Bournemouth and the currency is the Euro (€). Alicante Airport is the gateway to the Costa Blanca. Tourists adore this region of Spain for its warm weather and low prices. Summer temperatures hover around 26°C, but be prepared for heat-waves when it can soar beyond 30°C. It's a great destination for winter sun, too. During the coldest month the temperature is still 12°C on average. Alicante is a lot cheaper than Bournemouth. Expect to pay around £20* for an average three-course dinner for two, and about £2* for a bottle of beer. If you're staying in a resort most people will be able to speak English. If you're venturing into the countryside or staying in the city it's a good idea to learn a few basic Spanish phrases.
