Terminal Information
Belfast International Airport
Belfast International Airport is located 13 miles northwest of Belfast city centre. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight to Belfast is scheduled to depart. Easyjet offers online and mobile check in in advance which helps you avoid any queues at the airport, if you are flying with hand luggage only you can go straight through to security upon arrival.
Facilities at the airport include free Wi-Fi for up to two hours and a Priority Security lane. Passengers can purchase a Priority Security pass for £3* in advance online or from a kiosk outside the security area and avoid the worst queues.
In the departures lounge, there’s a small selection of food, drink and shopping outlets including Superdrug, WH Smith, Aelia Duty Free and Starbucks.
Belfast City Airport
Belfast City Airport (also known as George Best Belfast City Airport) is located three miles from the city centre. Passengers travelling within the UK are advised to check-in 90 minutes before their scheduled flight departure time. Self-service check-in machines, online and automatic mobile check in are all provided by Flybe.
The departures lounge at Belfast City Airport is home to a duty free store, a Boots and a WHSmith. There are also lots of food and drink options including Costa Coffee, Harvest Market and Bushmills pub. The Aspire Lounge is the name of the airport’s premium lounge. It offers complimentary refreshments and newspapers and charges an entrance fee.
Newcastle Airport
Newcastle Airport is situated five miles northwest of Newcastle city centre. There is just one terminal at the airport and the arrivals hall is home to Starbucks and Greggs along with a Whistlestop shop.
If you choose to hire a car from Newcastle Airport, you can choose from companies including Hertz, Avis, Interrent, Europcar and Budget. Their offices are located in the arrivals hall. A taxi booking desk is also located in arrivals. You can either arrange your taxi here or pick one up from the rank outside the terminal building.
Public transport options from Newcastle Airport to Newcastle city centre include both buses and the metro service. Local buses stop right outside the terminal building. The metro station is accessed from within the arrivals hall and services depart every 12 minutes, taking just 25 minutes to reach Newcastle city centre.
Practical Information

What to Expect in Newcastle
Temperatures in Newcastle are pretty much the same as temperatures in Belfast, maybe a degree or two cooler. One big difference, however, is rainfall. Newcastle is much drier than Belfast so you may get away with leaving your umbrella at home.
Prices are fairly similar in the two cities although you may find that eating out is a little more expensive in Newcastle than in Belfast.
