Airlines that fly from Aberdeen to Gatwick
EasyJet is the only airline providing direct flights between Aberdeen Airport and London Gatwick. Flights arrive to Gatwick’s North Terminal.
Terminal Information
Aberdeen Airport
With just one terminal, Aberdeen Airport is easy to navigate. Passengers on domestic flights should arrive an hour and half before their scheduled departure time. In addition to checking in at the airport, EasyJet also offers online check in and a mobile app which stores your boarding pass.
In the departure lounge there are all of the usual facilities including a Boots, WHSmith, Dixons and a duty free shop. A number of outlets including Costa Coffee, The Globe, The Kitchen and Granite City (with its own smoking area) provide a great range of food and drink, whether you’re looking for a pint, a full English or a quick snack before your flight. Wi-Fi is available throughout the departures area for a fee.
Passengers looking for a quieter space in which to while away the time before their flight, will find a range of executive lounges at Aberdeen Airport. For members of the British Airways Executive Club, there’s the British Airways Terraces Lounge. Passengers travelling on any airline can pay to access the Servisair Executive Lounge which provides complimentary drinks and snacks.
Gatwick Airport
Passengers flying from Aberdeen Airport will arrive to Gatwick’s North Terminal. As you exit from Domestic Arrivals, you’ll find an arrivals hall with Costa Coffee, WH Smith and cash machine.
Car hire desks are located out of the terminal building in the direction of the long term car park. Car hire companies operating at the airport include Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, National, Alamo, Enterprise and Budget. If you do choose to hire a car, you’ll find central London just 28 miles away and easy access from the M23 and M25 motorways.
In the arrivals hall, passengers will also find a National Express desk where they can book tickets to central London and around the UK. Other coach services also operate from Gatwick Airport. EasyBus is a low-cost bus service with departures approximately every 15 minutes from the North Terminal. Buses go to Earls Court, London Waterloo and London Victoria and run from 4am until 1am.
The Gatwick Express is another option for passengers looking to get to central London. Trains run to London Victoria every 15 minutes and take just 30 minutes. The Gatwick is the fastest rail link between the airport and the city centre. However, there are other options available with Thameslink and Southern rail services. They offer routes to London Bridge, St Pancras International and London Victoria.
Practical Information
When you’re flying within the UK, you don’t need to take your passport with you. However, you will need some other form of photographic identification. Each airline decides on the forms of ID it is willing to accept so check with EasyJet before travelling to ensure you’re carrying an approved ID with you.
What to Expect in Gatwick
The cost of living is generally much higher in London than in Aberdeen. However, with a range of eating options available, the average price for a mid-range meal for two is actually cheaper in England’s capital. Public transport is generally more expensive but you may find that travelling by taxi is cheaper in London than in Aberdeen.
