An urban highlight of Germany, Nuremberg is a gorgeous Bavarian city of half-timbered houses, gothic churches within a medieval city wall below the towering imperial castle, which was one of the most important residences of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. Also well known for its Christmas markets and little Nuremberg sausages which have a designation like Champagne or Parma cheese.
It was our first time back in Nuremberg since the 70's and our first time at Chriskringelmark. It is some that you have to have on your bucket list. Inside the walls of old town is like stepping into the middle ages, except for Starbucks and McDonald. History and great shopping are everywhere. Advoide weekends as it is very crowded.
Beautiful old bavarian city. You must try the pork shoulder and the white sausage. Great. It is even beautiful in winter but make sure to arrive in time for the Christmas markets.
The site of the infamous Nuremberg Trials is still here. But modern Nuremberg is a beautiful walled city with an annual Christmas Market that is said to be one of the largest in the country.
