Airlines that fly from Southampton to Paris

Flybe and Air France currently offer direct flights from Southampton to Paris-Orly. There are no direct flights from Southampton to any other Paris airports.

Terminal Information – Departing

Southampton Airport has one terminal with a couple of shops and eateries. World Duty Free has plenty of luxury goods, and if you're flying to France you can enjoy a tax-free discount. Shop & Collect is available if you don't want to carry your shopping around with you: just pick up your goodies once you get back to Southampton. There's also a WHSmith where you can pick up some magazines and snacks for the flight.

The airport offers three places to grab a refreshment before boarding your flight to Paris. The Globe Bar and Kitchen specialises in traditional British food, and is a great place to have a last minute bite before going through security. If you prefer to get straight to the departure lounge, you can enjoy a sit-down meal at The Olive Tree cafe bar instead. There's a Costa if you just want to grab a quick coffee.

The airport offers four hours of free Wi-Fi. If you enjoy a bit of luxury before you fly you can check into the Priority Lounge. Prices start at £10* per person if you book in advance. The lounge offers unlimited Wi-Fi access and complimentary food and drink.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Flights from Southampton to Paris-Orly land at Terminal Ouest (the West Terminal). You won't need to worry about taking the Orlyval shuttle to Terminal Sud (the South Terminal) unless you're catching another flight. Buses and taxis stop at both terminals. The OrlyBus takes half an hour to reach the city, depending on traffic. Tickets cost €7.50* (just under £5.50). Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly from Southampton to Paris. It's best to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart, or earlier if you have luggage to check into the hold.

What to expect in Paris

France is one hour ahead of the UK and the currency is the Euro (€). If you have a packed itinerary it's a good idea to confirm that the places you want to visit will definitely be open. Most shops close on Sundays, and a few museums and restaurants take Mondays off. Parisians are often considered snooty, but we've found that they open up a lot more if you attempt to speak French. Saying 'bonjour' (good afternoon), 'au revoir' (goodbye), 's'il vous plait' (please) and 'merci beaucoup' (thank you very much) will go a long way to ingratiating yourself. And if you really can't bear to speak French any longer, ask 'parlez-vous Anglais?' (do you speak English?).
