Airlines that fly from Southampton to Guernsey
Blue Islands and Flybe both offer direct flights to Guernsey. Aurigny Air Services also offer flights to Alderney, one of the islands of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Terminal Information – Departing
Southampton Airport only has one terminal. There are three places to eat and two places to shop. You can enjoy duty free shopping on flights to the Channel Islands. If you go wild with your discount in World Duty Free you can use Southampton Airport's Shop & Collect service to pick up your purchases on your return. The airport's other shop is a WHSmith, where you can pick up some last minute snacks and light reading.
Food at the airport is simple British fare. If you want to say goodbye to friends or family before your flight you can relax together at The Globe Bar and Kitchen, before security. If you prefer to arrive in the departure lounge early you can grab a sit-down meal at The Olive Tree. If you're just after a quick coffee and sandwich, pop into Costa. You can enjoy your coffee while checking Facebook: each passenger gets four hours of free Wi-Fi access at the airport.
For a sumptuous pre-flight experience you can check into the Priority Lounge. Prices start at £10* per person. Inside you can enjoy comfortable seats, complimentary refreshments, and unlimited internet access.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Guernsey Airport: The airport has one small terminal. Buses from the airport to anywhere on the island charge a flat fare of £1*. Most of the taxis on the island are owned by private firms: it's a good idea to book your lift in advance. Avis and Europcar both have desks at the airport. Remember to compare car hire at Guernsey airport before you fly.
Alderney Airport: The airport has one small terminal. You can get around Alderney on foot, but car hire is also available.
Practical Information
Guernsey is a member of the Common Travel Area, so you don't need your passport. You will need photographic ID for the airline security checks: your photocard driving license will suffice.
What to expect in Guernsey
Guernsey isn't a member of the UK, but the Pound Sterling (£) is the official currency. Prices in Guernsey are slightly higher than in Southampton due to import costs. The weather is fairly similar, with a pleasant and mild year-round climate. Guernsey Island is only twelve miles long by five miles wide, so you should be able to get around easily whether you hire a car or a bike. Buses charge a flat rate of £1*, and you can usually hail them if you're between bus stops (this doesn't apply if you're in town).
