Terminal Information
Belfast International Airport
Belfast International Airport advises passengers on European flights to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled flight departure time. The airport is set over two floors, with arrivals on the ground floor and check-in desks on the first floor. Jet2, Tui and Thomas Cook Airlines have check-in desks at the airport as well as online check in facilities which are recommended. If you are travelling with Easyjet you will need to check-in online or using the Easyjet mobile app as there are no check-in desks at the airport.
If you want to speed up your journey through security you can buy a Priority Security Pass. These passes are available from self-service machines next to the security area and cost £3. With a pass, you can join the priority queue and will be fast tracked through security checks.
Once you’re through to the departures lounge, you’ll find a range of facilities. You can stock up on holiday essentials at shops like Superdrug and WHSmith or shop for little luxuries at Aelia duty free store. For food and drink, there’s Burger King, The Lagan Bar and The Strangford Kitchen & Grill. Other facilities in the departures lounge include a currency exchange counter and Wi-Fi connection available for up to two hours free of charge.
An alternative to the standard departures lounge is The Business Lounge, a premium option available for a fee. Passengers travelling with any airline and on any class of ticket can pay to enter The Business Lounge. There they’ll find complimentary food and drink and a quiet space in which to spend the time before their flight.
Lanzarote Airport
Lanzarote Airport is located in the south of the island, five kilometres from the main town, Arrecife. All international flights arrive to Terminal 1. The arrivals hall at Lanzarote Airport is home to cash machines, a Bye Bye duty free store, some convenience stores and car hire desks. Car hire companies based at the airport include Auto Reisen, Cabrera Medina, Cicar, Avis, Payless, Hertz, Europcar and Goldcar. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the arrivals hall for up to 30 minutes.
If you’re planning to take public transport from Lanzarote Airport to your final destination, you can hop on one of the buses that stop right outside the terminal building. There are routes to Arrecife, Playa Honda, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca and a ticket will cost around €2.00.
You can also choose to take a taxi. Taxis depart from a rank outside the terminal building and charge a supplement of €1.70 for journeys starting or ending at either the airport or the port.
What to Expect in Lanzarote
Lanzarote is renowned for its warm temperatures all year round, making it a popular destination for winter sun. It’s the hottest of the Canary Islands with average temperatures reaching 30°c and sticking around 20°c even in winter months. The sea is coldest between February and April but it’s still usually warm enough for swimming. Cooling island breezes help to prevent humidity so temperatures tend to drop a little at night time, particularly out of the summer period.
